RUPERT AND ANNA MURDOCH – $1.7 billion
The pair divorced in 1999, after 32 years of marriage. Only 17 days after the split, the Australian/American media tycoon married Wendi Deng, who he subsequently divorced in June of 2013.
MEL AND ROBYN GIBSON – $425 million
The $425 million settlement was reported to be half of Mel Gibson’s $850 million net worth at the time. The divorce was as a result of Mel’s infidelity. The couple have seven children together.
ROBERT AND SHEILA JOHNSON – $400 million
Robert and Sheila’s fortune was built together over the course of 33 years at Robert’s company, BET. Sheila Johnson went on to marry the judge who presided over their divorce.
MICHAEL AND JUANITA JORDAN – $168 million
Married in 1989, the couple were together for 17 years and have three children together. The couple has initially filed for divorce four years earlier, but decided to stay together and work on their marriage. Their divorce settlement was the most expensive of all time (at the time of their divorce).
NEIL DIAMOND AND MARCIA MURPHEY – $150 million
After 25 years of marriage, the couple decided to call it quits in 1994. Diamond reportedly claimed that “She was worth every penny” of the $150 million settlement.
TIGER WOODS AND ELIN NORDEGREN $110 million
The settlement consisted of a division of their assets and property. According to sources, the prenuptial agreement was altered after taking into consideration Tiger Woods’ infidelity. The pair have two children together.
STEVEN SPIELBERG AND AMY IRVING $100 million
Their prenuptial agreement was written on a napkin, which a California judge refused to recognize. They were together from 1985 to 1989.
HARRISON FORD AND MELISSA MATHISON – $85 – $118 million
The pair met on the set of Apocalypse Now in 1979 and were together for 17 years. Reports claim it took three years for the pair to reach a divorce settlement agreement. Mathison sadly passed away in 2015.
MADONNA AND GUY RITCHIE – at least $76 million
The singer and director divorced after eight years together. The divorce was extremely publicized in magazines and online.
KEVIN COSTNER AND CINDY SILVA – $80 million
The couple met while they were at college (California State University) in 1975, and married two and a half years later. They divorced in 1994, after 16 years of marriage.
